Syntilay offers an in-person 3D foot-scanning experience at the tm:rw store at 220 West 42nd Street in New York City.
In less than 60 seconds, the scanning system captures the geometry of your feet and creates a detailed 3D model that can be connected to your Syntilay order.
Step 1: Take Off Your Shoes
When you’re ready to scan, you’ll need to remove your shoes and step onto the in-store scanner. The scanning process itself takes less than 60 seconds.
A camera-based scanning system captures your feet from multiple angles to build a three-dimensional representation of each foot.
Step 2: Your Feet Become a 3D Model
Instead of reducing your feet to a single shoe-size number, the scanner creates a detailed 3D model of your feet. From that scan, we can extract approximately 5,000 data points.
The in-person scanning system can capture higher-quality and more detailed information than our online phone-scanning experience, including characteristics such as:
Individual toe shapes
Heel structure
Detailed foot contours
More precise overall foot shape
Differences between your left and right foot
This gives us a highly detailed digital representation of the feet that will actually be wearing the shoes.
Step 3: Save Your Scan With Your Email
After completing your scan, you’ll enter your email address on the in-store iPad. This step is important.
Your email is what connects your 3D foot scan to your future Syntilay order. Make sure you use the same email address when you order your shoes.
Once your scan has been saved, you don’t need to remember a scan number or bring anything home with you. Your email connects everything.
Step 4: Choose Your Syntilay Shoe
Once you’ve been scanned, you can explore Syntilay’s available footwear and choose the shoe you want. You can either:
Order through the Syntilay website
Scan the QR code available in the store to begin your order
When checking out, simply use the same email address you entered after completing your in-person scan. We’ll use that email to identify the scan associated with your order.
Step 5: We Make Your Custom Shoes
Once your order and scan are connected, your detailed foot data becomes part of the process used to create your custom footwear. Your shoes are then made to order and mailed directly to you.
